2. Public Meeting regarding the rerouting of the TCH through Strathgartney Park
The Bonshaw Community Council is organizing a public meeting to give people an opportunity to express their concerns regarding the proposal to reroute the Trans Canada Highway through Strathgartney Provincial Park.
The meeting will take place at 7pm on Monday November 28th at the Bonshaw Community Centre, 25 Green Rd, Bonshaw. Government officials have been invited to attend. For more info, contact John Jamieson, 675-4961

1. PRRO Rally

PRRO – Prince Edward Island Reproductive Rights Organization – is organizing a reproductive rights rally to inform residents of Prince Edward Island what reproductive rights women are entitled to as decreed by the Canadian Government in 1988, but are being denied in Prince Edward Island.
Come out and have some coffee or tea, enjoy some busking, listen to informative speakers, learn something new and support a great cause.

There will also be a drop-off box for a Women’s ‘Zine. Please feel free to drop off any creative/ informative pieces you would like to contribute.

2. WE SUPPORT Poster Campaign
WE SUPPORT is a poster campaign celebrating PEI Citizen Advocacy 25 years of service, matching adult Islanders with an intellectual disability with adult Islanders. WE SUPPORT posters are a way for businesses, organizations, government to participate in the celebrations organized for PEI Citizen Advocacy’s 25th anniversary, Friday, November 18, 2011. Any business, organization, retail outlet who would like a poster to post in their work place during the week of Monday, November 14 through till Friday, November 18, can contact Rosalind at PEI Citizen Advocacy office 902.566.3523 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Over PEICA’s 25 years, almost 100 matches have been formed providing companionship and support to almost 200 Islanders. PEI Citizen Advocacy is a grassroots volunteer organization located at 81 Prince St. in the VRC in Charlottetown, PEI.
“Bringing Islanders Together” tells the stories of eleven friendships between adults with intellectual disabilities and volunteers of PEI Citizen Advocacy. This exhibit will be launched on Friday, November 18, at The Haviland Club at 7pm as part of PEI Citizen Advocacy’s 25th anniversary celebrations. Photographed by Shelly Connell Photography eleven matches are presented in this exhibit doing what they normally do in their friendship. Shelly Connell volunteered her time and resources to this project. PEI Citizen Advocacy 25th Anniversary Celebration
All are welcome to attend PEI Citizen Advocacy’s 25th Anniversary Celebration on Friday, November 18, 2011 at the Haviland Club. Reception begins at 7 P. M. followed by a program of stories, art, theatre and congratulations. The evening will conclude with music by Jon Rehder and friends. Presentations in theatre will be made by Island play write Vian Emery and her friend Kim, painting by Mary Curtis and her friend Carolyn and “Bringing Islanders Together” photographic exhibit by Shelly Connell Photography. 4. It’s that time of year again…
It’s that time of year again – Pat Robinson is taking on two initiatives this season:
A) Pajamas for the Soup Kitchen Xmas Baskets: If you can donate new or gently used pajamas for men, women, or children, please call Pat: 566-4388 at 6 Nottingham Ave, Sherwood regarding any questions and for pick up and delivery. There is also a drop off box at CLIA or you can give bagged items to Kelly Robinson.
B) Xmas Puddings!: $12 per pudding – beautifully decorated – perfect for gifts or hosting parties. Proceeds to PEI People First (self advocate adults with intellectual challenges) and a smaller donation to the PEI Humane Society. Since she started, Pat has raised $15,000 for local charities!
