2011 Purple Ribbon Campaign
The Purple Ribbon Campaign Against Violence (Campagne du ruban violet contre la violence) was initiated by the ACSW in 1991 to remember the 14 women who were murdered at L’Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal on December 6, 1989, and to raise awareness about violence against women.
This year, in 2011, the PEI Purple Ribbon Campaign looks at access to justice for family law. To advocate for better access to justice and more options for women and children who face violence in their homes, visit http://accessjusticepei.wordpress.com. New resources will be added regularly through December 2011. People use violence to establish power and maintain control over others. Violence and abuse take root in the many types of inequality in our society.

We were told that it is requested by the families of the women that the women’s names not be included in the memorial services. Is this true?
